Titanium or Ceramic as an Artificial Tooth Root
Implants are made of titanium or ceramic and, following nature's example, take on the function of an artificial tooth root for anchoring new teeth. As a rule, the body accepts both materials as its own tissue - allergic reactions are not known.
After thorough diagnostics and planning, we usually place titanium implants on an outpatient basis, on request also under twilight sedation or general anaesthesia. During the healing period of about six to 25 weeks, the bone fuses firmly with the implant, providing a stable anchorage.
